Meredith Hyslop

Born in the USA, I moved to France in 2009 to complete a specialized masters program in internation wine and spirits business. Today, I move between Montpellier, capital of Languedoc Roussillon at the edge of Provence in southern France, 10km inland from the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and my native Walla Walla, Washington in the Pacific Northwest.

As a full-fledged wine ambassadrice, I travel around the world promoting beautiful wines from the superb terroirs of French and American vignerons.

I am proficient in English and French, fluent in Spanish and know some Chinese.

Passionate about wine, studied in the USA at the WWCC Institute of Enology & Viticulture where I learned about the technical aspects of viticulture and enology I also completed a program in Argentina called Work, Wine, Latin experience where I learned Spanish and worked in two Argentine wine estates.

When I arrived in France I completed a wine program at the  Burgundy School of Business - Specialized Masters - International Wine & Spirits Business where I learned about sales and marketing in international wine and spirits business.

  • I have worked in the wine industry for 13 years as a wine broker and international wine business development director.

  • Given my experience in 20+ export markets, I developped the ability to build working relationships, bridge cultural differences and language barriers to develop sales and business development for the companies I work for.

    My value adds are:

    - a vast network of supplier and buyer contacts worldwide

    - an understanding of legal requirements and frameworks for selling wine in 30+ export markets

    - an understanding of transport, labelling, and customs paperwork requirements for all export markets with which I work.

Another unique component of my background is my technical and product expertise:

    - I know how vines are grown and wines are made which allows me to walk clients through the maze of understanding production requirements of the winery, explain how wines are crafted and the unique growing climates from which they originate.

The most common countries I travel to for wine business are USA, Canada, China, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Switzerland and Belgium.

  • I am a wine lover and enjoy working with wine because wine is about creating an emotion, a moment, a memory with others to be savored forever - its is one of mother nature's rare bounties that encourage us experience pure pleasure and joy in life. I have the incredible opportunity to translate the job of the hard working "vignerons" in the soil all the way to the end consumer who sees only the fruits of all this labor in a context of epicurean finery in some of the most renown restaurants and shops worldwide.

My goal is to add value to each relationship I create and maintain.

I aim to assist my clients in their efforts to manage the growth of their brands and their projects.

I bring people together around the world simply by offering a bottle of wine to share and I love bringing people together in such an enjoyable, convivial fashion.
